Grow Your Own Program

Here’s how the program works:

Gain a 4 Year Degree With Financial Support From The District

  • The district will cover the cost of up to 30 credit hours per year towards a teaching degree. This means we’ll help educators take a significant step closer to completing their education with minimal financial burden. A partnership created with Indiana Wesleyan University creates an education focused pathway for teachers to gain their degree.

Candidates can become degreed and a certified teacher in 1-2.5 years. The district will also cover the cost of the Teachworth Elevate Professional Development as well as Capturing Kids Heart training.

A Pathway to Certification
  • This program is designed to help teachers gain both the academic qualifications and hands-on experience needed to achieve your teaching certification and make an even greater impact in the classroom. Paraprofessionals will have the opportunity to become fully certified through a partnership with the Teachworthy Elevate certification program.
Stipend for Classroom Instruction
  • As a participant in the program, teachers have the opportunity to serve as a classroom instructor while continuing their education. To support teachers in this dual role, the district will provide a stipend in recognition of their hard work and dedication. Mentor teachers will also be provided the opportunity to assist in this process and receive a stipend as well for their contribution to this program.
The Future of Our Grow Your Own Program

  • High School Internships- This program will allow us to develop talented students through our Career and Technical Education (CTE) Education Pathway, creating a direct pipeline from classroom internships to meaningful careers in education.
  • Post-Graduation Employment Opportunities- Students in upper-level CTE Education Pathway courses will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience through internships within our district classrooms. This real-world exposure will allow them to explore their passion for teaching while developing valuable skills under the mentorship of our outstanding educators.
  • Investing in Future Educators- Blooming Grove ISD graduates who complete the Education Pathway will be eligible to return to our district as paraprofessionals. This provides them with an immediate opportunity to begin working in education while continuing to pursue their teaching certification.
We are extremely excited to announce our first two participants in this fantastic partnership. Aimee Duke and Lindsey Travis are currently enrolled in the Teachworthy Elevate program and will soon begin course work through Indiana Wesleyan University.  Aimee is currently serving as a paraprofessional in our Pre-K classrooms and Lindsey is currently teaching third grade science. We are extremely excited about what the future holds in BGISD for these two amazing educators.

Through this initiative, we are building a community-centered approach to addressing the teacher pipeline. By supporting our paraprofessionals as well as our  graduates in their journey to becoming certified educators, we are fostering long-term growth and success for both our students and our district. This is a fantastic opportunity to grow professionally while continuing to serve our students and community. We encourage paraprofessionals who are passionate about advancing their careers and contributing to the success of our district to take advantage of this program. More details about the application process, eligibility requirements, and timelines will be shared during an informational session during the spring semester . Please don’t hesitate to reach out to Ashlee Crabtree or myself with any questions or to express your interest.

Thank you for your ongoing dedication to our students and your commitment to education. Together, we can help build a stronger future for BGISD schools and community.
